St. Peter & St. Paul, Eckington

There has been a church building on the site of this church in Eckington for over 900 years and people will have worshipped God in many different traditions during that time. The current active congregation at Eckington vary in age from less than 2 years old to almost 90. And our services reflect elements that satisfy all of this great age range. But perhaps the best thing about our church is how we get on together. We are a family, the family of God. Like all families we sometimes fall out but in the main we get on well and share our experiences and much of our lives together. We are an Anglican church and as such follow the structure and services of the Anglican Communion. Our services are relaxed and friendly regardless of whether they are very formal or very informal and we have both; and also others in between. We have Sunday School (now called ‘The Cafe’), we have Messy Church, JAM (Jesus and Me) for the younger members. There is a Women’s Fellowship group who meet monthly and raise funds for charity. The men of the church meet on a less formal basis but spend time together maintaining the building, visiting other church buildings and eating together enjoying each other’s company. There is a very active band of bell ringers, in fact this church is a principal training centre for bell ringers; see our Ringing Centre site for more detail. The Eckington Singers meet once a week for practice and perform concerts in this and other churches in the area. We have and will again run Alpha courses, we have Bible study home groups and we often run Lent courses. And there is much more; but don’t take my word for it take a moment to look at these pictures showing what our church is about or better still come and join us, see our Calendar page for details of when we hold services and come and give us a try, you will be warmly welcomed.
